Description:

In this activity, students will further expand their knowledge of energy and matter by exploring electrons. Students will learn that the flow of electrons creates electric currents. Students will explore open and closed circuits to plan an experiment that uses electricity.

Title: Got Power? Creating a Complete Electric Circuit
Description:

This activity can be done in partner pairs or in cooperative learning groups. The purpose of this activity is to teach students how to build circuits using everyday household and classroom items. The students will plan and carry out their investigation that explains the transference of energy from one place to the other by an electric current. The students will demonstrate that an electric current requires a complete loop so that the electric current can pass through it.

Description:

This activity is designed to be an introductory activity to generate student thought and interest in energy transfers and identification of potential and kinetic energy transfers in a system.

Title: Introduction to Glass Fusing
Description:

Students will learn that some art has a purpose other than being art. Many common everyday items can be considered art based on the manner in which they are designed. Students will make a glass dish, using previous instruction on design and learn the basics of glass fusing. During the lesson, students will also learn the need to practice safe working practices so as not to place themselves or others in danger. Lastly, students will learn about the transference of energy or heat in objects and how that energy can impact their final form.
