A Learning Activity is a strategy a teacher chooses to actively
engage students in learning a concept or skill using a digital tool/resource.

Activity:
1. Teacher will review slides 2 and 3 of the Figurative Language Fun slides attached with students to ensure they understand the different types of figurative language that they will be using in their writing.
2. Teacher will go over the rubric on slide 11 with the students to be sure they understand what the expectations are for the "Would You Rather?" activity and the Figurative Language Fun comic strip.
3. Teacher will go over the directions of the two assignments on slides 9 and 10 with the students and answer any questions they may have about the assignment.
4. Students are to complete slides 9 and 10 on their own.
5. After completing slides 9 and 10, students need to check over slides 5-8 to be sure they are complete.
6. When finished with slides 3-10, students need to submit their slides and notify the teacher that they have completed their slides and comic strip for grading.
Assessment Strategies:
The teacher will use the rubric to assess students' understanding and usage of figurative language (simile, metaphor, idiom, hyperbole).
Advanced Preparation:
1. Read over the Figurative Language Fun slides attached to be sure the material is suitable for your students.
2. Check to be sure all video/song links are working on the slides.
3. Print rubric if wanting to grade a printed version instead of digitally.
