Activity:
This learning activity should be used at the end of a lesson on recognizing angle measure as additive. The students will complete the activity Parker's Pizza. Students can complete this activity individually or with a partner. After the completion of the activity, the teacher will lead a class discussion allowing the students an opportunity to share their ideas on how to cut the pizza.
Assessment Strategies:
The activity Parker's Pizza can be used to assess mastery of students' ability to recognize angle measurement as additive.
Advanced Preparation:
The teacher will need to make a copy of the Parker's Pizza activity and share it with the students in Google Classroom or share the link to the activity. If students do not have access to a device with Google Classroom or Docs, then the teacher can display the activity using a projector or print paper copies for each student.
Variation Tips (optional):
Parker's Pizza activity could be extended to increase the rigor. Students could problem-solve how to evenly share the pizza slice with three people or identify what portion of the entire pizza Parker brought home.
Notes or Recommendations (optional):
This activity can be completed independently or with partners according to students' levels of ability.
