Overview:

This resource is a lesson plan that teaches students to observe body movements in different activities and determine what body systems are being used. Students are introduced to correct terminology of body movements. This lesson plan incorporates STEM concepts while teaching about physical movement.

Examples: line dance, square dance, ballroom, cultural and social occasions, or lyrical dance

APE accommodation suggestions: Slower music, poly spots and/or arrows on floor for direction, breaking the dance steps/movements down into small parts, review/practice, peer assistance.

This activity can be done in a classroom or in the gym. Students will practice and recognize types of muscle movement and in the final activity demonstrate and apply muscle movement terminology in dance.
