   View Standards     Standard(s): [MA2019] REG-7 (7) 6 :
6. Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
[MA2019] ACC-7 (7) 12 :
12. Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients. [Grade 7, 6]
Subject: Mathematics (7)
Title: Add Linear Expressions With Rational Coefficients
Description:

In this learning activity, students will add linear expressions using the properties of operations. The students will also have a chance to practice adding linear expressions on their own, including those that contain integer coefficients and constants as well as expressions that have rational coefficients and constants. This activity includes a review and worksheets ready to print or assign digitally.

This learning activity can be used as a stand-alone activity but is best used as an After Activity. The Before and During Activities can be found in the Tools or Recommendations section.

16. Express and compare very large or very small numbers in scientific notation. [Grade 8, 5]

a. Perform operations with numbers expressed in scientific notation, including problems where both decimal and scientific notation are used, expressing answers in scientific notation. [Grade 8, 6]

b. Use scientific notation and choose units of appropriate size for measurements of very large or very small quantities. [Grade 8, 6a]

c. Interpret scientific notation that has been generated by technology. [Grade 8, 6b]

Title: Combining Like Terms With Rational Coefficients
Description:

In this learning activity, students will learn how to rewrite algebraic expressions by combining like terms. The students will apply properties of operations to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions. The lesson offers a teaching video and additional problems for partner work to check for understanding.

This learning activity can be used as a stand-alone activity but is best used as a core lesson activity. Corresponding activities can be found in the Tools or Recommendations section.

Title: Intro to Combining Like Terms With Rational Coefficients
Description:

In this learning activity, the students will be reminded that in simple addition they learned to add all the numbers together to get a sum. In algebra, numbers are sometimes attached to variables. The students will learn that they need to make sure that the variables are alike before they can add the numbers. This learning activity can be used as a stand-alone activity but is best used as an introductory activity. Corresponding activities can be found in the Tools or Recommendations section.
