During this explore measurement activity, students will collaborate to solve a real-world math problem. The problem requires students to use multiple addends and report their solution in centimeters.
This activity was created as a result of the ALEX Resource Development Summit.
This engagement activity allows students to use metric measurements to measure the length of an object. The students will use strategies based on place value and the properties of operation to combine the length of multiple objects with the same length to solve a real-world metric measurement problem.
In this elaborate activity, students will independently solve metric measurement word problems involving length. The students will combine the same length (10 cm.) multiple times. Students will use strategies based on place value and the properties of operation to add within 1,000. The students will use drawings or equations to explain their strategy.
In this interactive activity, students will be led through steps to add and subtract measurements in word problems. There are teaching activities as well as practice activities available. A handout that reviews the steps taught during the interactive is available to be printed. After utilizing this resource, the students can complete the short quiz to assess their understanding.
